The Greenest Weekend in Łódź: “OFF to Ireland” Festival Returns to OFF Piotrkowska!
Irish stew simmered in Guinness, craft whiskey tastings, a grand parade with a dream prize, and special guests straight from the Emerald Isle. From March 13th to 17th, OFF Piotrkowska Center will become the heart of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Poland. Discover what’s in store for this year’s edition!
Ever wondered why the Irish heart of Łódź beats right here at OFF? It is all thanks to the host of the site, OPG Property Professionals, whose deep Irish roots have for years built a cultural bridge between creative Łódź and magical Galway. This year’s “OFF to Ireland” festival is set to be a record-breaker, hosting not only renowned artists but also high-ranking official delegations, including the Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, and the Ambassador of Ireland to Poland, Patrick Haughey.
Admission to the festival events is free of charge. The festival is held under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of Ireland in Poland, the Mayor of the City of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska and Galway City Council.
A Feast of Flavours: Michelin Standards and Craft Treasures
Modern Irish cuisine is synonymous with world-class ingredients. Starting Friday (March 13th), the restaurants at OFF will serve dishes inspired by the recipes of Jp McMahon – a culinary visionary and Michelin-starred chef for 12 consecutive years.
What’s on the Festival Menu?
- Drukarnia: Traditional Lamb Hot Pot (tender lamb topped with crispy potatoes), warming Coddle with sausages, and fresh mussels steamed in cider.
- Spółdzielnia: Delicate beef cheeks served with pearl barley.
- Steakownia: Signature Jp McMahon steak with mint & parsley puree and caper sauce, alongside premium beef carpaccio.
- Doki: The legendary mutton stew braised in Guinness.
- Len i Bawełna: A rich, velvety cheesecake infused with Baileys Irish Cream.
- Klub DOM & Brush: Exclusive tastings of Micil Distillery spirits (straight from the heart of Connemara) and Guinness served with a unique twist.
Irish Produce Pop-up Shop: Located in the Show Off building (at the main entrance from Piotrkowska Street), this is where you can buy original Irish cheeses, sauces, and craft delicacies imported straight from the island. Be sure to visit the A Taste of Galway stand, featuring hand-picked gourmet products from top producers across County Galway. The shop will be managed by Julia, a student at the prestigious Shannon College of Hotel Management (University of Galway). She will be happy to answer any questions regarding the region’s culinary scene as well as academic opportunities at the University of Galway.
The Grand St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Win a Trip of a Lifetime
Sunday marks the festival’s climax! At 1:00 PM, the main courtyard will come alive with the Celtic energy of the folk band Filids. This is the perfect time to showcase your best green outfits – the most creative costume will win a trip for two to Galway, including a stay at the luxurious Hardiman Hotel!
At 2:30 PM, the vibrant St. Patrick’s Day Parade will set off from OFF Piotrkowska, marching down Piotrkowska Street in a sea of green balloons and traditional Irish melodies.
Culture from the Edge of Europe
Guiding us through the artistic side of the festival is Dara McGee, Director of the Áras Éanna Arts Centre. Highlights include an exhibition of Aran Islands photography by Cormac Coyne, an Irish-inspired „Open Mike” at the Literature House, and a headline concert by the acclaimed Ruth Dillon (at the Impro Comedy Theatre). For families, we have prepared the „Chasing the OFF-sheep” scavenger hunt and a live „Aran Stone Wall Jam” art happening.
